Join us in celebrating National Cat Day…

In celebration of National Cat Day on October 29th, generous donors will match your donations to our four primary priorities: cat rescue/fosters, The Scratching Post, Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) and Pet Spay and Neuter, doubling your impact on helping cats in our local area!

Each priority has matching donor(s) willing to give up to $2,000 to match your generosity, for a total of up to $8,000 in matching funds we’ll receive with your help!

Don’t delay: these matches are only available through October 19th through the 29th, so time is of the essence.

Cherished Cats and The Scratching Post Cat Cafe have found homes for more than 2,000 cats since 2017, a feat that would be impossible without our AMAZING fosters. It also requires an incredible amount of food, litter and other supplies, as well as veterinary care. Your donation in support of our rescue work and fosters will be doubled through 10/29 thanks to the generosity of Glenda Sheaffer, Janet Jones, and Valerie Miller.

The Scratching Post Cat Cafe opened in December of 2017 as the first cat cafe in our region. Thousands of visitors have come through our doors to enjoy time with the cats, and more than 960 cafe cats have met their forever family at the cafe. Your donation in support of The Scratching Post Cat Cafe will be doubled through 10/29 thanks to the generosity of matching donors the Gwen Johnson & Jane Miller, and the Taylor family.

Perhaps the most unassuming but important part of our work is our support of trap/neuter/release (TNR) in our local area. On average we support the TNR of 250-300 cats annually, which represents THOUSANDS of kittens not born to suffer struggling to live outside. Your donation in support of our TNR work will be doubled through 10/29 thanks to generous donations from the Kline family.

A strong TNR program starts with supporting the spay and neuter of pets before they end up outside. This new program helps owners spay or neuter their cats by covering a portion of the cost at the PSPCA in Danville. We are in the process of fulfilling over 60 approved requests for support from this program, with eight completed so far. With your help we can drastically increase that number in 2026. Your support of our efforts to help families spay or neuter and vaccinate their pet cats will be doubled through 10/29 thanks to the generous support of the Leanne Freas Trout Foundation.

Before you go- check out all the other fun we have planned:

“Guess How Many” game- There is a “guess how many cat toys” fishbowl at The Scratching Post to try your luck on for a chance to win a cafe t-shirt. Won’t make it there? Watch the video below and make your guess that way!

Throughout the week select participants (including donors, social media commenters, and event attendees) will be randomly selected to win a variety of prizes, including pet portraits from local artists, gift certificates to the Lewisburg Deli, and swag from The Scratching Post.

And who knows what else we have up our paws?
